Welcome to the digital vertical file of the Jones Media Center!
Do you remember the old days when librarians would scour the newspapers and magazines, clipping articles to build a vertical file in their library for research? Do you remember - gasp!- using the Reader's Guide to find magazine articles and then actually holding that magazine in your hands! Well, no more! We live in a digital world where information is at our finger tips via the World Wide Web. Textbooks and other print sources are no longer the singular answer to providing students with content information. We now have websites, blogs, videos, social networking, databases, etc. to disseminate information and bring learning alive in a visual and meaningful context for our students.
Please use these resources on this digital vertical file as you see fit. You are the professional educator, so use your professional judgement, per the Jones Supplemental Materials Policy, on what is appropriate both in terms of teaching the learning objectives as well as offering age appropriate images and language. Please be sure to model respect for intellectual property by citing your sources when creating presentations and worksheets for your students. Follow fair use and copyright guidelines as outlined in the Jones Media Center Policies and Procedures Handbook.
